I can join blocks and add a start and end block.
Today we continued looking at scratch jr. all the children were able to join the blocks to make a program. They used a start block and an end block at the end. They could then ‘run’ the program by clicking on the flag button. Children then experimented with deleting blocks and changing the background and sprite.
LO: I can use commands to move a sprite.

Today in computing we used the iPads to start our new topic on programming animations and using ScratchJr. We looked at using the commands left, right, up, down and round to make the sprite move. Everyone was able to do this independently and really enjoyed their afternoon on the iPads!

Today in Big Phonics we played lots of games to practise reading real and alien words. We are reading words that contain all the reception and year one sounds. Everyone did so well at sounding out and blending the words!

Today in Geography we were locating the United Kingdom. We found out that the United Kingdom can be called the UK for short. We used different maps and had to locate and label the UK on each map. We could locate the UK on a world map and on a map of Europe. We then looked at a larger map of the UK and could find the Isle of Wight.

This half term we are looking at a new text in English – ‘The Smeds and the Smoos.’ As our hook into the text we had a go at making our own aliens using play dough and loose parts. The aliens looked amazing and everyone had great fun!

Today we were counting in twos. We were very confident counting in twos up to ten but needed some more practice counting in twos up to 20. We each found a partner and counted the class up in twos. We then found 20 objects and had to put them into groups of two. We then counted in twos up 20. Then we got post it notes to write the number and label each group.

Today we were very lucky to have the wonderstruck science show. We saw lots of experiments involving fire, rockets, jets and beds of nails!
Today we were very lucky to be joined by GB gymnast Jayden Paddock. He led an assembly with us first of all and talked about how he got into gymnastics and did a back flip! We then had a chance to do some fitness and circuit games with him.

Today we made our clay tiles that we designed last week. The children learnt how to warm up the clay properly. They then rolled out their clay and cut out a square or rectangle tiles. They then used the tools to add the detail and their designs.

As part of RE day today we looked at the Easter story and Holy Week. First of we talked about what Easter means to us and how we celebrate it. We then looked through some slides about the Easter week. So,e children helped to act out the story. Children then used some pictures, or drew their own to make a comic strip of Holy Week.
